ON HYPER FLORA ACCESSORIES,
The rise of floral, botanical & vegetable inspired fashion accessories.
Fashion and flora have always been deeply connected, with designers, printmakers and photographers looking to nature for inspiration. But why?
Is it a reflection of how fashion, just like plants, move through the seasons. Growing, evolving and constantly changing? Or maybe it’s from a craving for genuine authenticity? Perhaps in the search for something more tangible, in amongst the exhausting, infinite scroll of content we consume everyday. Yearning for something that’s rooted in the earth, pulled from the soil, short lived and fleeting. An instinct.

WILD THREADS
Through every era, flowers have been a constant in fashion, with iconic prints, fabrics and patterns that take us back to a different time or decade. Adding botanicals can elevate clothing beyond functionality, transforming them into a form of decoration and self expression. Think raffia, linen, woven natural fibers, and ethereal rolls of fabric, echoing the elements.
Take these grass sprouting blazers and trainers from Loewe's SS23 menswear collection, exploring how nature can influence textiles and silhouettes. Showing us a playful fusion between fashion and flora.
"The idea is that over time the pieces merge with nature," said Loewe.

FLWRS ON THE RUNWAY
We love these floral glasses by Issey Miyake from the SS25 “The Beauty of Paper collection”. Re-imagining flowers and foliage in their most sculptural form.
Stripping the traditional bouquet from their cellophane wraps and creating something unexpected. Blurring the lines between nature and art, offering us a fresh take on what floral design can really be.
COLLARS AND CABBAGE
An unlikely pairing when first described, but then you see the incredible work by Katerina Shukshina and suddenly, it all makes sense. A jacket made of cabbage leaves… *chefs kiss*.
We know we can speak for so many florists when we say this but, when we look at flowers, we notice the way they feel in your hands, the weight, colours, shapes and textures in each variety is what we find truly inspiring. And Katerina captures this just perfectly.
It's not about just a bunch of flowers in a vase or suffocating the stems into a cardboard box to be posted through your letterbox anymore. This is the kind of work which paves the way for something more, something exciting. This type of art is playful and full of possibilities, and we're so here for it!!
Taking inspiration from all we’ve seen, last summer, we decided to make our own FLWR accessory, so here is our creation. The “Practical Purse” made of the frilliest, paper white and sweetly scented Sweet Peas. A true staple, even if it only lasts the day.
